A blue.shift for people and planet: How team.blue UK&IE is turning ESG commitments into action

For us here at LetsHost sustainability is no longer a “nice to have” – it’s an essential part of how modern businesses operate. As part of the wider team.blue UK&IE Group, we’ve recently published our latest 2024/25 Impact Report. This demonstrates how environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles are becoming embedded into the way we support customers, empower our people and reduce our impact on the planet.

Rather than treating sustainability as a standalone initiative, our approach is built around blue.shift – team.blue Group’s strategy to make online business success sustainable, inclusive and trusted. While the full report explores our progress in detail, here are some of the highlights from the past year.

Building more sustainable technology

As a digital business, we recognise our responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of the infrastructure that powers our services.

One of our biggest milestones is our continued investment in renewable energy. The primary data centre used by team.blue’s UK brands has been powered by 100% renewable electricity since 2021, and we’re working across the wider Group to increase renewable energy usage, improve supplier engagement and reduce emissions.

During the year we also:

  1. Achieved 100% hybrid or electric company vehicles across UK & Ireland
  2. Recycled or reused 100% of end-of-life servers, diverting them from landfill
  3. Continued improving the accuracy of our carbon reporting by tracking energy consumption across offices and data centres in greater detail

The report also highlights an important point about transparency: while some reported emissions have increased, this is largely the result of improved measurement and reporting rather than increased energy consumption. Better data enables better decisions, and we’re committed to reporting our progress openly.

Putting people first

Creating positive impact goes beyond environmental initiatives. It also means building an inclusive workplace where people can thrive.

During 2024/25, 50% of all new hires in team.blue UK&IE were female, helping us stay on track towards our diversity goals, while female leadership representation reached 34%. Employee engagement surveys achieved participation rates of over 90%, giving teams a strong voice in shaping the future of the business.

We also continued investing in employee wellbeing through:

  1. Mental Health First Aiders across the business
  2. Lunch & Learn wellbeing sessions
  3. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training with a 94% completion rate
  4. The rollout of the ONE.CORE framework to improve transparency around roles, career progression and reward

Supporting our communities

Positive impact doesn’t stop at our own organisation.

In 2024, team.blue employees took part in a Group-wide step challenge that raised €18,000 for MOVE Europe, a charity helping young people with disabilities develop independent movement skills.

Building trust in a digital world

Trust is fundamental to every digital service we provide.

Over the past year we’ve strengthened governance through a number of initiatives, including formalising customer quality assurance processes, improving information security governance and introducing enhanced cybersecurity awareness training.

Highlights include:

  1. A formalised Quality Assurance programme to improve customer service consistency
  2. An NPS score of 45.8, meeting our customer satisfaction target
  3. Centralising ISO-certified information security management across multiple brands
  4. Achieving 100% participation in cybersecurity training, with 87% course completion across UK & Ireland

Looking ahead

Perhaps one of the most exciting developments is our journey towards B Corp certification, with submission planned for later this year. The process is already helping shape how sustainability is embedded across the wider team.blue Group, identifying opportunities to improve governance, environmental performance and social impact across every brand.

While we’re proud of the progress made during 2024/25, we also recognise there’s more work to do. Sustainability is an ongoing commitment, and we’ll continue building on the foundations established through blue.shift as we work towards creating a more sustainable, inclusive and trusted digital future.
